10 CARDINALS SCORE IN 69-34 ROUTE OF LYNN CAMP

South Laurel picked up their fourth win in a row on the road against the Wildcats of Lynn Camp.

The Cardinal defense would limit the Wildcats to only 34 points. 10 different South Laurel players were able to score in the victory. Coach Davis was particularly pleased with the effort on defense. “Defensively I was really proud of how our guys were locked in. Even our younger guys were locked in when they came into the game. We still need to continue to clean some things up and make sure we are executing at a high level in each possession.

“We have a really tough stretch of games to close out the season, which is a good thing”. The final games to conclude the regular season includes Boyle County, Harlan, Madison Central, and Lexington Christian. “We are going to focus on a really talented Boyle Co. team. They are extremely well coached and it will take a very tough mindset to get through it. We will have to grind it out and make sure we are communicating defensively while finishing off possessions”.

Caden Jones was happy with how his team played tonight in the win. “I feel like our overall performance was good, but our defense definitely stood out. Our defense has been really good the past few games due to our communication and helping on the backside of the play. We must continue the way we have been playing, and build off our previous performances”.

“I really liked how we pushed the ball in transition and caused them (Lynn Camp) to turn the ball over”, said Gover. “Our defense has been really great recently because we follow the scouting report very closely, keeping the opposing team's players almost silent. We have a very positive mindset, and we know it will help us for the tournament coming up soon”.

Josh Steele added, “We all played hard and were fully focused. I was able to use my length tonight to my advantage on the defensive end. My mindset, along with the team, is to go into the game to play South Laurel Basketball and get the job done”.

Davis and the Cardinals will host the Boyle County Rebels Thursday, February 9th at 7:30 pm.
